Heat a non-stick skillet over low to medium-low heat. Add the butter or oil and let it melt or heat up, coating the pan evenly.
Crack the eggs gently into a small bowl or directly into the skillet, keeping the yolks intact. If using a bowl, carefully slide the eggs into the pan.
Cook the eggs undisturbed for 2-3 minutes, until the whites are fully set but the yolks remain runny. For a firmer yolk, cook an additional minute.
Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Using a spatula, gently lift the eggs from the skillet and transfer them to a plate. Serve immediately with toast or your favorite sides!
