Roast Turkey with Herbs

Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (12-14 lbs)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 4 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 2 cups chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, mix melted butter with rosemary, thyme, sage, salt, and pepper.
  3. Rub the herb butter all over the turkey, including under the skin.
  4. Stuff the turkey cavity with onion, lemon, and garlic.
  5. Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a large pan. Pour chicken broth into the pan.
  6. Roast for 3 hours, basting every 30 minutes with pan juices.
  7. Check for doneness (internal temperature of 165°F/75°C in the thickest part of the thigh).
  8. Remove from oven and let rest for 20 minutes before carving. Serve and enjoy!
