Instructions

  1. In a microwave-safe mug, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until smooth.
  3. If using, sprinkle the chocolate chips on top of the batter.
  4. Microwave on high for 1.5 to 2 minutes, depending on your microwave's power. The cake should rise and look set but still be moist.
  5. Let the mug cake cool for 1-2 minutes before eating (it will be hot!).
  6. Optionally, top with whipped cream, powdered sugar, or more chocolate chips. Enjoy straight from the mug!
